TITLE: Budget recruitment for small Bodyshops and Workshops

Any owner of a small garage will tell you that the recruitment of qualified bodyshop and workshop staff is a constant source of frustration and expense. The fees of traditional agencies are generally too high to be considered, and weekly adverts in the local press can run into hundreds of pounds. Narrowing profit margins and the need to produce quality workmanship means there is an urgent need for an affordable solution within the industry.

December 2006 saw the official launch of TECCONEX, an automotive recruitment company formed with this in mind by motor trade people. Following the lead of other 'budget' or 'no frills' companies, TECCONEX is an internet based company where employers can post adverts in full confidence that the right audience is being targeted. In the short time they have been operating they have already attracted the attention of employers and potential employees alike, building a database of available positions and job seekers.

The notable difference between TECCONEX and more traditional agencies is their fees. Each advert placed costs only £75 and will stay on display for two months. If they make a successful referral a final fee of £175 is then collected. When compared to 12-15% of the first years salary as charged by standard employment agencies or around £400 that it would cost to run a decent advert in a local paper, the cost benefit speaks for itself. TECCONEX then advertises itself and its vacancies across the trade and local media, including advertising in Polish and Spanish, with the expectation of more languages to follow soon.

In addition to jobs, they also run a notice board second hand tools and garage equipment can be bought and sold, and are hoping to entice motor trade suppliers to advertise on the home pages, helping to ensure costs remain as low as possible.
